moving on from shows that are about an experience, television is another medium in which shows are broadcasted to an audience. the difference is the interaction with the audience and the audience themselves. it isnt a case of going somewhere to see a show, it's in the comfort of your own home. the shows are different as well. a good example would be a sitcom such as 'the young ones'. at the time when it was being organised and broadcasted, the main cast and most of the guest stars were stand up comedians from 'comedy store' which was in london. they were cast becuase they were classified as the next generation of comedy and the young ones was trying to create a new fresh idea on television, moving away from the classic 'the good life' set up.
the problem was that stand up didn't tranfer well to television so they had to act differently to the way they'd have been used to doing live standup. this shows that television is completely different to sother shows such as stand up and street performances. it isn't just a case of filming a show at a comedy venue and then playing it on BBC. the reason being that it doesn't transfer. it's a completely different experience and therefore a different type of show. television is more personal, abit like cinema, except it's in the comfort of your own house. the show develops an intimacy with the viewer because it's a personal screening in a way.
