what is the purpose of a show

another example of a show is street performances. the thing that seperates street performance from theatre and such is that the performers and confined. they're free to wonder round and interact with different people. there's a lot of diversity as well. there's a street performance that appeals to everyone, from jugglers to singers. at alton towers when i last went there were performers walking around on pogo stilts wearing scary costumes in aid to promote a new ride. this is an example of a street performer who isn't confined by space and interacts with people and doesn't nessesarily wait for the audience to come to them. in this case, the purpose of the show is to advertise and protmote the theme park ride.

other examples are living statues. living statues do wait for the audience to come to them. they don't move unless you give them some money. the site of one is always amusing and gives the audience a few laughs. the purpose for this show is to humour people and to make money. making money is obviously a big part as people have to make money in order to survive. not everyone put on shows to make money though. kareoke at a pub for example is putting on a show, put for pure entertainment purposes.
